Piston Motion Model

Piston Motion Model

Piston Motion Model is our high-accuracy digital piston dynamics tool, implemented as an Excel-based workspace so it drops smoothly into existing analysis routines. It resolves piston position, velocity, acceleration, and side loading through the full cycle, while tracking clearances under realistic running conditions.

By quantifying inertia forces and kinematic behavior in detail, the model shows you where skirt-to-liner contact, rock, or clearance loss may compromise noise, wear, or sealing. You can quickly compare alternative cranktrain geometries, pin offsets, and mass distributions, then see the effect on piston guidance and ring pack stability.

For development teams, the benefit is simple: fewer surprises when the first hardware runs. Piston Motion Model lets you align piston and cylinder designs early, better support ring conformability and oil control models, and build a consistent foundation for subsequent PROMPT or finite-element studies.
